Research and the Knowledge Base of Correction

Abstract

The function of research in correction is viewed as the maintenance and extension of the knowledge base of practice. The provision for a research capacity in the Standard Act for State Correctional Services gives recognition to the urgent need for orderly development of the knowledge base in a rapidly changing social order. Organization of research strategy is re viewed and various options are discussed.
