Abstract
Juvenile probation officers are faced with rather specific prob lems which stem from the authoritative nature of their work. They find that, in working with angry, defiant delinquents, sexually misbehaving young people, and their often indifferent and disturbed parents, the fears, anxieties, and hostilities common to all human beings are highlighted and aggravated. They find, too, that the problems these young people prescnt impinge upon the specific experiences of the workers' own past.
