Abstract
Information for the study of the level of social work in prisons was derived from a questionnaire sent in 1961 to prisons for adult offenders in 47 states and the District of Columbia. Findings indicated that only 14 of 48 state systems employed a person with an M.S.W., while 18 systems had no "social workers."
