In this article, the author discusses personal and professional issues of private practice for the midcareer counseling psychologist. Independent practice is a new career setting for counseling psychologists and holds many challenges and satisfactions. It requires flexibility in orientation and professional aspects and obligations. The author uses her own experience in practice to illustrate various personal and professional considerations.
