Abstract
Thailand remains a destination of promise despite its problems. Western hotel chains are expanding in Thailand, and the government is encouraging that development. The government is also aware of the nation's problems-notably with pollution and inadequate infrastructure-and is working to remedy them. Thailand benefits from the stability of its long-time hotel operations, including the Dusit Thani and the Oriental in Bangkok, and the Royal Cliff Resort in Pattaya.
