Abstract
Capping a career with such upscale hotel chains as Omni, Hilton, and Hyatt, Helmut Horn went out on his own six years ago to run Coastal Hotel Group, a small collection of properties in such beautiful locations as the Florida Keys and Monterey, California. As a corporate refugee, he attracts managers who are discontented with being part of large chains and who want to operate entrepreneurially. Horn is intent on operating his hotels in an environmentally conscious manner, even sponsoring a conference focusing on the ecology of the Florida Keys at his Cheeca Lodge in Islamadora. He has a first-hand knowledge of the Keys from his hobby of underwater photography.
