Abstract
Take the concepts behind hotels, time-shares, condominiums, and vacation resorts and roll them into one. The result is the "aparthotel," an idea taking root in Europe. The aparthotel is a facility that offers all the traditional amenities of a full-service hotel while allowing individuals to invest in the operation in a manner similar to condominium developments in the U.S. Returns for the investor may be derived from the developer or from transient guests who occupy the investor's unit during the year. Aparthotel units are spacious and offer conveniences far in excess of traditional hotel rooms. In addition, the facility-usually no larger than around 50 units-may provide such extras as swimming pools, restaurants, lounges, game rooms, spas, gardens, children's play areas, and additional storage space.
