Abstract
This article is based on an address Dr. Charles L. Vaughn delivered on June 5 at the Franchis ing Seminar sponsored by the Massachusetts Association of Real Estate Boards and the Notre Dame University Club of Boston. Dr. Vaughn is director of the Boston College Center for the Study of Franchise Distribution. He is also the author of the Vaughn Report of Franchising Fast Food Restaurants, from which much of this article is adapted.
