Abstract
Scientific strides in textile manufacture have been spectacular during the past twenty years. Nearly 1000 man-made fibers are now available and natural fibers have been improved through new chemical and physical treatments. Yet, be cause the new fibers are so generally accepted in wearing apparel and for household uses, the consumer is not especially aware of the benefits which have accrued to him. Hotel, restaurant, and other institutional users, however, have been quick to reap the benefits obtainable through purchasing fabrics and carpets which are deco rative in appearance, and easier to maintain. More improvements lie directly ahead. — Editor.
