In this article an attempt is made to relate the debate on peaceful change of the inter-war years to the current interest in the concept of change in the study of international relations. The author offers a descriptive account of the main themes of the debate fifty years ago. Finally, problems and possibilities concerning the application of these ideas in the world today are discussed.
