The author reviewed the potential risks of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (TMP-SMX) treatment in children so that a more educated decision can be made in the choice of a prophylactic drug for recurrent acute otitis media, particularly in the penicillin (ampicillin, amoxicillin) allergic child.
