Careful clinical and laboratory observations of 105 Nigerian children who reacted to acute infections with febrile convulsions confirm some well accepted generalizations and suggest several new approaches to study which have applicability to children in every country. Nine teen of the 105 patients yielded evidence of a pathogenic virus.
