"Pediatricians have the unpleasant but important responsibility of breaking the news of mental subnormality to the par ents and then discussing with them the problems involved. We fail in our duty when we shirk this responsibility because of lack of time, laziness, ignorance of how to do it, or failure to be informed of the ways in which we can help."
