Abstract
Failure in school affects about 20 per cent of school children, and is an important problem for medical consideration in that the reason for failure is often a diagnostic challenge.
In large metropolitan areas many of the school problems en countered are the result of the emotional condition, which fre quently has a direct relationship to the socia-economic or socio- cultural background or both. These are most often problems related to mental health rather than deviations from physical health. Much more knowledge is needed in this area of mental health.
