Le dialogue interculturel et le choc de la sécularisation

Abstract

Face aux défis du dialogue interculturel, le Pape Benoît XVI soutient que la privatisation de la religion et l’exclusion de Dieu de la sphère publique ne sont pas des solutions : « Les tenants de cette exclusion positiviste du divin du domaine de la raison universelle ne font pas que nier ce qui est une des convictions les plus profondes des croyants, ils font obstacle au vrai dialogue des cultures qu’ils appellent pourtant de leurs vœux ». Si le Pape interpelle les croyants pour qu’ils se comportent comme des « minorités créatives », il rappelle également aux États modernes qu’une neutralité religieuse absolue est une voie sans issue.

Facing the challenges of intercultural dialogue, Pope Benedict XVI argues that the privatization of religion and the exclusion of God from the public sphere are not solutions: “Not only do the proponents of this positivistic exclusion of the divine from the universality of reason negate what is one of the most profound convictions of religious believers, they also thwart the very dialogue of cultures which they themselves propose.” If the Pope calls believers to behave as “creative minorities”, he also reminds modern states that an absolute religious neutrality is a dead end.
