Abstract
The purpose of this study was to develop a new methodology for left handwriting reeducation. This method, evaluated by electromyography, was applied to right hemiplegic patients. The methodology included specific exercises for the rehabilitation of left upper limb motor skills. A training period of 4 weeks was divided into three steps: pre-writing, writing and post-writing. In order to evaluate progress and patient motor skills, both qualitative and quantitative graphic and electromyographic observations were used. At the end of the training period, all patients could write with legibility, regular speed and ease. It seems that with this new approach right hemiplegic patients can learn to write as a left-hander under specific selection and training conditions.
