Presently there are very few commercially available adaptive devices that protect the wheelchair bound individual from rain or snow. This article offers a practical and relatively inexpensive method of constructing a rain poncho that has proven successful in meeting the needs of a wheelchair bound cerebral palsied child. The specific aspects of wheelchair design and individual needs that must be considered for the construction of such a device for any other wheelchair bound individual are stressed.
