This article describes a community project which demonstrates the skills that Occupational Therapists can offer to local School Boards in early identification and remediation of children with learning difficulties.
The project included screening and remediation of children found to be high risk for learning problems in a kindergarten class. The teachers were then assisted, through a series of workshops, to establish their own remedial programs.
The School Board has now requested that the Occupational Therapists present the series of workshops to all schools in its jurisdiction.
