Abstract
Samples are drawn from the entire bulk and are to be classified into those exceeding a given level of toxic and those under compliance. Measuring the composites (a mixture of original samples) instead of the original grabs leads to cost reduction. Using an idea often used in group testing, we demonstrate that the classification can be carried out based on the composite measurements. We also investigate misclassification probabilities of these strategies.
