The Russian is the single syllabled clipped word “yest” and could be translated as “Yessir!” but in the context this would be inappropriate because it involves a “bourgeois” title. It could be translated also as “Aye! Aye!” but this loses its briskness. It could be translated “O.K”. but this would be too informal. The translation in the Moscow English edition is “very good!” This lacks briskness and is rather too pedantic but it would seem to be the best available.
