Plasma cholinesterase activity, determined using either benzoyl choline or butyrylthiocholine as substrate, is stable for prolonged periods (> 12 months) when stored at −20°C. Likewise, repeated freezing and thawing of plasma did not markedly affect cholinesterase activity.
