A new fluorescence method for demonstrating γ-glutamyltransferase isoenzymes using γ glutamyl-7-amino-4-methyl coumarin, a commercially available, non-carcinogenic substrate is described. The procedure can readily detect γ-glutamyltransferase isoenzymes in samples with total activity as low as 5 U/l at 30°C.
