Experience with a Reflectance Meter in the diagnosis of neonatal hypoglycaemia is described. A good correlation was found between glucose concentrations measured by the meter and by a standard automated glucose oxidase method (p < 0.001) but the meter gave significantly lower values (p < 0.02) than the automated method, an effect which was independent of the packed cell volume.
