Abstract
A new technique for the roentgenographic study of the larynx and hypopharynx in the frontal projection is described. Xeroradiographic zonography is a convenient technique requiring minimal patient cooperation and enjoying good patient acceptability. It requires no topical anesthesia or instillation of positive contrast material; yet, it produces significant diagnostic radiological information to supplement clinical examination of the larynx and hypopharynx. The technique has largely replaced other methods of roentgenographic evaluation of the larynx and hypopharynx in our own institution, and has resulted in new interest on the part of clinicians dealing with neoplasms of the laryngopharyngeal area in adjunctive roentgenographic study.
