Abstract
A comparative study of obstruction of the central retinal artery and thrombosis of the internal carotid artery was done. The ophthalmodyna mometry method (ODM) was used. The statistical analysis of the 2 indepen dent groups shows that ODM allows a differential diagnosis between both conditions within the first and fourth weeks after the manifestation of ocular ischemia. During the second and third weeks, it is not possible to localize the site of obstruction. One concludes that the time factor is an important criterion for the differential diagnosis between obstruction of the central retinal artery and the internal carotid artery when ODM is used.
