Abstract
Eric Chapman is head of Eric Chapman Violins Inc. in Larchmont, New York. A founding member of the Violin Society of America, he served as its president from 1975 to 1982. Mr. Chapman has directed four international violin-making competitions since 1975. He was co-founder of the Ann Arbor Summer Symphony and served as its first Executive Director. In 1979, he was awarded the Ysäye Medallion by the Ysäye Foundation and the Belgian Government for contributions to music. In addition to his work with instruments, Mr. Chapman commissioned “Little Fantasy” for viola & piano by Meyer Kupferman and String Quartet #2 by Ruth Scholthal.
