Abstract
AFL-CIO Research is divided among many constituent unions, the national Department of Research, of which the author is Director, and several other national staffs, such as in social security and political education. Research has almost entirely short-term practical aims; the present practice in the AFL-CIO of using researchers to follow up its work and represent labor for many public problems is remarkable.
