Abstract
The recent award of a grant of $3,000,000 to the University of Michigan by the Ford Foundation for long-torm development of non-Western and other international studies has thrown into relief the extensive network of international research activities that has been developing at that University. The funds will be used for a wide range of activities including new faculty positions, released time for faculty research, visiting scholars, research assistance, fellowships, library improvement, publications, and conferences.
