Diversity can be measured in several different ways and may have positive and negative effects on team performance. We use three different measures of diversity, demographic, cultural, and pay disparity to examine their individual and combined effects on team performance in the Indian Premier League. We find that the positive effects of demographic diversity are enhanced by cultural diversity but not pay disparity. However, the complementarity is context-specific.
