Abstract
In a world of burgeoning population, land and water—resources which are essential to survival—are seriously threatened. Water is being polluted and good productive farmland is being covered by buildings and roads or lost to erosion through poor management. Land use planning is a crucial step in the protection and preservation of people and their environment. Decisions about how to effect it are important for today and critical for the future.
