Abstract
Economic aid to Europe includes anything consciously provided which helps the balance of payments of European countries in the long run. Even aid to underdeveloped countries indirectly benefits not only Europe but the entire West. Our national security depends on the stability, peace, and inde pendence of the underdeveloped world. Our trade policy, then, becomes an im portant factor. The purpose and scope of financial aid need definition, and both Congress and the public need to be informed of the importance of such aid.—Ed.
