Abstract
The aim of this study is to assess the extent to which international bodies responsible for the protection of human rights have recognized the sig nificance of ethnic conflict as a destabilizing force in both developing and industrialized countries The data consist of annual reports and summary records of the United Nations' Commission on Human Rights, its Sub- Commission, and three of the independent committees established by the United Nations to monitor states' compliance with multilateral treaties in the field of human rights.
