Abstract
This work is part of a project entitled 'Sverige under socialdemokratin' ('Sweden during Social Democracy') headed by Professor Goran Therborn The project has been financed by Humanistisk samhallsvetenskapliga for skningsradet (Swedish Council for Research in the Humanities and Social Sciences) 'Gender-division [is] crucial for explication and understanding of social organisation and social change' (Therborn 1981b:48) Under the influence of feminist research in the last decade, the importance of gender-division for research in the social sciences has been recognized In spite of this, however, the most basic work has still to be done - women's relations with the class-structure, directly and indirectly, and its historical variations.
