Abstract
'Scientific sociology'. as defined by a Western, middle-class, white community of scientists, is Increasingly unacceptable to ethnic and national minorities and to other powerless groups Does this indicate that sociologists and anthropologists are being forced to rethink their position, and possibly to redefine some long-accepted premises from which they have operated? A possible direction for future social science is a change of focus away from the victims of social systems and towards the system itself, the powerful, the oppressors.
