In this short review the author gives a brief introduction to two new works from the French Althusser school. It deals with problems like surplus value, dictatorship of the proletariat and class struggle. Since the appear ance of Pour Marx and Lire le Capital (Paris 1965) the Althusser school has been one of the most important Marxist innovations. The school has above all attempted to emphasize the class struggle and its status within Marxist-Leninist theory.
