RETRACTED: Crowd Sensing Based Burst Computing of Events Using Social Media

In March 2017 SAGE Publishing received an email from Hindawi Publishing Corporation (previous publisher of the journal until May 2016) regarding a potential conflict of interest between the author of the above paper, Zheng Xu, and the Handling Editor. Hindawi also provided evidence of Zheng Xu’s admission of accessing the Handling Editor’s account to manage articles and reviewers’ accounts to fraudulently submit reviews.

SAGE Publishing began an independent investigation into this matter and found that both reviews received by the previous publisher, Hindawi, for the above paper consisted only of text copied from the abstract and introduction of the paper. There was no evidence of proper, independent third party peer review having been conducted for this paper.

In line with Committee on Publications Ethics (COPE) guidance, International Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks and SAGE Publishing are therefore retracting the paper as there is clear evidence that the peer review process was compromised.
