Abstract

Cephalalgia has flourished over the past 8 years under its publisher, Wiley-Blackwell. Cephalalgia now ranks 24th amongst 156 Neurology journals with an impact factor of 3.68. On behalf of the Editorial Board and International Headache Society, I would like to express my deep appreciation for their vision, leadership and dedication to the journal. On a personal note, I value the collegial relationships I have built with the Wiley-Blackwell team over my short tenure thus far.
I now write to inform you that Cephalalgia will be transitioning to Sage Publishing, effective 1 January 2010. Having personally visited with the Sage team in London, I am enthusiastic about the new opportunities that await the journal with this new partnership.
The readers of Cephalalgia will soon see a change in the face of the journal, the format of the manuscripts, and new content. We are also working hard to shorten the door-to-print (submission-to-publication) time for submitted manuscripts by employing an early editorial screening process (as opposed to obligate external review), enhance the pool of reviewers and offer a fast-track review process. Authors will be able to submit a manuscript for a fast-track review for a fee. These manuscripts will be reviewed by two associate editors and the editor-in-chief within 72 h and will be published on-line within 30 days of a decision.
All papers published in Cephalalgia between January 2009 and December 2010 will be considered for the Cephalalgia Award Lecture, to be presented and delivered at the next International Headache Congress in Berlin, Germany in June 2011. This is a prestigious award with a cash prize of 10 000 Euro.
I want to especially thank my outstanding Editorial Board of associate editors, without whom this journal cannot be successful, and the sage counsel from my ombudsman and ethics and integrity officers. I also want to thank my colleagues who have and continue to give so graciously their time and expertise to provide outstanding peer review. We will begin to recognize and reward our reviewers in ways that are meaningful and commensurate with the number and quality of reviews they provide.
