Abstract
In this paper, abrasive wear data obtained on polyetherimide (PEI) and its four composites reinforced with short glass fibres have been statistically analysed. The statistical analysis was done to investigate the effects of individual operating parameters like load, sliding speed and abrasive paper grit size and the combined effect of same parameters, and their interactions with the contact surfaces, on the wear of PEI and composites. It was found that the combined effect of operating parameters and their interactions with the contact surfaces had a profound influence on the wear of these materials. Their influence, however, depended on the percentage reinforcement of glass fibres.
