Poisoning is a significant public health concern in the UK. Accidental poisoning and deliberate self-poisoning may involve drugs, household products, environmental contaminants or occur as a result of occupational exposure. This article aims to provide a strategy for GPs to use for assessment and management of patients presenting in the community with a history of exposure to poisons.
