Abstract
Although they do not account for a large proportion of reasons for consultation with a GP, knowledge of conditions affecting the penis is important. The sensitive nature of these conditions means that doctors need to be confident in order to minimize embarrassment to the patient and to successfully diagnose and manage such problems. The aim of this article is to highlight the conditions most frequently seen in primary care and to introduce a few others which often require referral to secondary care.
