Abstract
Background:
Pancreatic pseudocysts pose unique challenges to surgeons. When a pseudocyst becomes symptomatic or leads to complications, treatment is required. First line treatment involves endoscopy and cyst drainage. However, if endoscopic management fails, surgical intervention is required. 1 –7 Minimally invasive surgeons must accommodate the location of the cyst to choose a viable and durable drainage option.
Methods:
This technical video report details a laparoscopic intragastric approach to create a pancreatic cystgastrostomy using intraoperative ultrasonography and endoscopy.
Results:
The patient recovered without complications and ultimately the pseudocyst resolved.
Conclusion:
In the event of a complex, symptomatic, and/or complicated pancreatic pseudocyst that cannot be managed endoscopically, operative intervention is required. In these cases, laparoscopic intragastric cystgastrostomy is a safe, viable, and durable option to resolve a pancreatic pseudocyst.
