Abstract
For this centennial surgical year in review, articles were chosen that challenge our current practices and, perhaps, give us a taste of where we are headed as we step into the second century of the American Thyroid Association. This year's articles were broadly divided into four classifications, namely (1) thyroid ablation, (2) surgical treatment de-escalation and advances in adult thyroid cancer, (3) pediatric thyroid surgery, and (4) postoperative care.
