Abstract
There have been many outstanding basic science contributions in all aspects of thyroid research in the past year. I was honored to present the “Year in Thyroidology: Basic Science” Lecture at the 92nd Annual Meeting of the ATA in Washington DC in September 2023. This article summarizes five of the most impactful articles selected based on their novelty, scientific rigor, general interest, and application of cross-disciplinary state-of-the-art methods. A brief overview of a further 10 articles is included, and all the studies are discussed in the context of their background and their potential implications for the future.
