Abstract
Abstract
Introduction:
A 7-year-old female presented with a tongue lesion that was causing dysphagia and difficulty breathing at night. Work-up revealed symptomatic lingual thyroid tissue. Transoral lingual thyroidectomy was performed with the goal of relieving symptoms and minimizing morbidity.
Materials and Methods:
Single patient case presentation, preoperative imaging, intraoperative video, and pathology photomicrographs.
Results:
Effective surgical management of symptomatic lingual thyroid tissue through a minimally invasive transoral approach.
Conclusions:
Minimally invasive transoral lingual thyroidectomy preserves function while achieving relief of obstructive symptoms. Relative to other described approaches, this procedure substantially minimizes morbidity without compromising surgical goals.
