Abstract
Duration of use, reported efficacy, and documented concerns with 349 histrelin gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonist (GnRHa) (Supprelin® LA) implants inserted in 292 individuals were examined. The median length of time that implants remained in place was 2.9 years with few failures. Very few implants were broken or brittle at the time of removal, and this status was not associated with duration of use. We conclude that in most cases, histrelin GnRHa implants can be left in place for a longer duration than the recommended 1 year. Our team routinely scheduled implant replacement at 3 years with few documented implant failures.
