Abstract
ABSTRACT
Safety is paramount when considering laparoscopic procedures in small children, especially when serious complications such as hemorrhage from a renal biopsy are possible. This is why many surgeons perform renal biopsy by the lumbotomy approach or as an open procedure, both of which require hospitalization or 24-hour observation. The authors suggest a new approach to renal biopsy, accessing the perirenal space using a retropneumoperitoneum and performing a video-assisted renal biopsy using a TRU-CUT™ needle.
