ABSTRACT
The use of the video-assisted thoracoscopic approach for anterior release, diskectomy, and fusion in children with kyphosis or scoliosis has evolved with recent advances in minimally invasive surgery. To date, 30 consecutive patients have undergone the video-assisted thoracoscopic approach for anterior release, diskectomy, and fusion, followed by open posterior fusion and instrumentation. The principles behind this approach and the operative experience are described.
