Abstract
Mortality in infants with severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID) is high and in the absence of therapy mortality approaches 100%. Fortunately the availability of bone marrow transplantation (BMT) within the first 3 months of life can improve survival to greater than 93%. We report cases of 2 infants with SCID successfully transplanted from an unaffected sibling. Common types of SCID are briefly reviewed.
