Abstract
Gail G. Shapiro, M.D., is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine (Seattle, WA) and an allergist in private practice at Northwest Asthma and Allergy Center. She also participates in clinical research with ASTHMA, Inc. Clinical Research. Dr. Shapiro received her M.D. degree from Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD) and her B.A. degree from Brown University (Providence, RI). She has board certification from the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. In addition to being a member of the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute's Expert Panel on the Management of Asthma, Dr. Shapiro is a past chairman of the American Academy of Pediatrics Allergy Section, American Board of Allergy and Immunology, and the Professional Education Council of the American Academy of Allergy and Immunology. She is Secretary/Treasurer of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology for the 1999-2000 term. Dr. Shapiro is co-chair of "Pediatric Asthma"—a program to promote the use of the NHLBI guidelines in pediatric practice.
