Abstract
The article examines the amount of knowledge nurses have about the cross-reactivity of latex allergies and fruits (bananas, chestnuts, and avocado). A survey was used to measure this knowledge in a group of registered nurses enrolled in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Wilmington College. The survey found that the nurses lacked sufficient knowledge of the cross-reactivity of latex and fruits. Recommendations for the reduction of health risks in the future are included.
